Police manhunt continues following Limpopo house robbery and kidnapping

Police in Limpopo have arrested a man linked to a chilling case of kidnapping and house robbery, while a manhunt is underway for four other suspects believed to be on the run.

Provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba said that in the early hours of Saturday, September 5, five armed suspects stormed a house in Burgersdorp village, Maake, and robbed the occupant at gunpoint of an undisclosed amount of money, a Toyota Hilux bakkie, and five cellphones. 

Mashaba added that one of the suspects was arrested shortly after the robbery.

Following a well-coordinated and intelligence-led operation by the Mopani Tracking Team and Maake Detectives, the 47-year-old suspect was apprehended on Monday, September 15.

The 47-year-old suspect appeared before the Ritavi Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, September 16, on a charge of kidnapping. His case was later postponed to Wednesday, September 17, at the Maake Magistrate’s Court, where he faced an additional charge of house robbery in Burgersdorp village, Maake.

Meanwhile, a massive manhunt for the remaining suspects is underway.
