Not everyone can visit the Tulbagh Hotel in Cape Town, but through social media, many of us are transported into the picturesque destination.
On social media, the Tulbagh Hotel has gained popularity, thanks to its fun room tours done by staff member Jonathan.
Jonathan’s charisma has made him a bit of a social media sensation. His room tours are filled with details and have a person daydreaming about which room to choose or maybe hanging out with Johnathan himself.
On Tulbagh Hotel’s TikTok page, Jonathan’s first video in 2024, revealing his favourite room, Freesia got over 240 000 views. In the video, Jonathan explains why he loves the room as he gives a tour.
Social media users love how Jonathan pronounces certain words, such as “geeoowns” (gowns), and how he details how guests can use the room's amenities.
The beautiful rooms are a big draw, but guests in the comment section are very interested in coming to see Jonathan. Even famous comedian Marc Lottering asked "where Jonathan was" during a recent visit to Tulbagh Hotel.
While the other staff at Tulbagh Hotel also do the room tour videos, Jonathan is a firm favourite with social media users.
User Bronwyn commented on TikTok: “@The Tulbagh Hotel, thank you for keeping it so authentic, using your own staff and not 'influencers'. Jonathan has convinced me to visit your hotel! Can’t wait to stop by on my next visit to CT! Well done.”
