Pam Andrews is clearly making the most of her time in Johannesburg. The former "Pop Idol" star has been sharing snaps from a safari with her boys, and her social media is buzzing with wildlife, sunshine and pure family fun.

Giraffes wandering in the distance, laughter echoing through the bush, and her boys exploring every corner of the outdoors make it obvious this trip is exactly what the doctor ordered.

Her posts also highlight her unique family dynamic. Married to Voytek Pieron for over a decade, Andrews doesn’t follow the traditional rules. They don’t live together full-time, and she’s been open about how their open relationship works for them.

They’ve created what works for them: an “open marriage”, where they maintain separate homes, frequent video calls, and prioritise peace and mental space.

Andrews previously joked that Pieron “lives like a king,” hopping between her place, his ex-wife’s house, and even other ex-partners’ homes throughout the day - breakfast here, lunch there, dinner with her and their son, then dessert at someone else’s.

She says this setup actually brings harmony.

“We took a little weekend trip with my husband and my son, my husband’s ex-wife, and some friends, stuff like that,” she says in one recent video.

She also touches on why she came on the safari for her son, admitting her struggles with anxiety. “I came for (the sake of) my son. I don’t like mingling with other humans. I made sure I brought my medication because I get anxiety and s*** like that.”

Although her husband and his ex-wife convinced her to step out of her comfort zone, Andrews is glad she did.

The weekend ended up being refreshing, a small leap of faith that paid off. Seeing her include her husband’s ex-wife highlights just how unconventional, yet surprisingly harmonious, her family approach can be.

Andrews has been in Johannesburg for a while, giving followers glimpses of long, relaxed days spent with her family. From casual walks in the sun and playful interactions on safari, she’s soaking in the city and the outdoors with ease.

Originally from South Africa, she moved to the UK years ago and now lives in London with her son, CJ. This trip has a nostalgic layer, a way to reconnect with her roots while creating new memories with those close to her.
