Chris Olsen, a popular American TikTok content creator, recently shared a thrilling experience of being stranded in the African bush with a broken-down vehicle, just metres away from two male lions.
The incident occurred while he was on a safari drive in the renowned Kruger National Park, located in Ehlanzeni, Mpumalanga.
In a video posted on TikTok, Olsen expressed his disbelief, saying, “So you’re telling me our safari truck broke down in front of…?” as he panned the camera to reveal the lions lounging in the grass nearby.
As the sun began to set over the Kruger, he added, “The sun is almost gone.”
Olsen explained that the vehicle became immobilised due to a punctured tyre on what appeared to be wet grass.
To ensure their safety, another safari vehicle was dispatched to tow them to safety.
In a light-hearted moment, he joked in the video caption, “My service also keeps going in & out, so I’ll let you know if I live.”
The video quickly garnered over 1 million views on TikTok.
Viewers reacted with a mix of humour and support in the comments section.
One user, @ashleydianafoster, advised, “As a South African, just ‘Pspspsps’ and they will know you come in peace 🥰.”
Another user, @alexandria_holland, quipped, “Well, being broke saved me once again 😆.”
@captainlonsdale humorously remarked, “They ordered Uber Eats,” while @tessy712 reassured him, “Don’t worry! You’re in good hands with our guides!!”
Although Olsen was absent from social media for a few hours following the incident, he later confirmed that he was safe and well.
In a subsequent video, he shared another encounter, this time with an elephant, where he played a Taylor Swift song in the rain.
“Playing Taylor Swift for this elephant because he probably hasn’t heard her yet. He started vibing at the end, I think,” he remarked.
