After spending nearly four months in Japan, the Kolbe family has returned to South Africa for a visit, once again balancing life across two continents.
The family - led by Springboks star Cheslin Kolbe and his wife Layla Kolbe - currently splits their time between Cape Town and Japan.
Taking to Instagram, Layla gave followers a candid look into their demanding travel schedule.
She shared images of herself and their three children after enduring a 24-hour journey from Japan to Cape Town.
“Living in 2 time zones- what is Jetlag even- but we had to come home for this costume day! Midterm break next week again. 🫠,” she wrote.
The post also featured the children dressed as their favourite cartoon characters, delighting fans online.
Social media users flooded the comments section with admiration for how she manages motherhood alongside constant international travel.
@su3t0rr commented: “Met you and your beautiful children in the Singapore departure lounge. You are an incredible mother, and your children are amazing 👏.”
@tarrynthetaurus added: “They are all so beautiful, you and your hubby are so blessed.”
Another user, @sophiemounga, wrote: “Cutest costumes 😍😍 super mum!! 💘.”
Meanwhile, @ankevee welcomed the family back, saying: “Beautiful ❤️ welcome back!”
The Kolbes arrived in time to celebrate World Book Day.
Layla also showed support for fellow rugby ex-WAG Rachel Kolisi by purchasing her book, "Falling Forward".
Sharing a photo of the book on her Instagram stories, she wrote: “Finally got my hands on it and it’s World Book Day!”
Layla recently celebrated her birthday in March while in Cape Town, marking the occasion with a luxurious spa experience.
“Birthday bliss at the beautiful Cape Grace Hotel spa 🤍 As a self-proclaimed spa connoisseur, I’ve experienced quite a few and always come back to the ones that truly get it right… and this was definitely one of those.
"From start to finish, everything was top tier, the kind of experience that reminds you what real relaxation feels like. Thank you to Cape Grace for making my birthday so special. Truly one for the books 🤍,” she shared.
In December 2025, the Kolbe family bid farewell to South Africa as they returned to Japan, where Cheslin plays for Tokyo Sungoliath in the NTT Japan Rugby League One.
Reflecting on their time in South Africa, Layla shared an emotional message about leaving behind a life the family had grown to love:
“What a year in SA, especially for the kids - beautiful friendships, teachers they adored, a sense of home, and so many memories. Leaving that behind makes the goodbyes so much heavier.
“Missing a family wedding and being away for our ninth festive season are the harder parts of this rugby journey … but I am always grateful for the doors it opens too,” she said.
