However, their trip to Thailand was not a romantic getaway. The pair were there as part of "Tropika Island of Treasure: Island Search", a companion series focused on finding the next location for the upcoming season.
Potelwa, who is set to return as host for season 12, has been travelling to various destinations alongside former contestants to assess potential filming locations.
Hungani, who won the previous season in Zanzibar, joined her on this leg of the journey.
During their time in Thailand, the two explored what the destination has to offer as a possible setting for the show. From its beaches to its landscapes, the location is being considered for how well it can support the challenges and overall experience that "Tropika Island of Treasure" is known for.
Ndlovu reportedly described the country as vibrant and full of energy, noting the heat and humidity as part of the experience. He also highlighted the warmth of the people, as well as the food and beaches, as standout elements.
He further explained that Thailand’s mix of environments, from busy coastal areas to more remote islands, could allow for a wider range of challenges, adding both physical and mental demands for contestants.
The "Island Search" series forms part of a broader effort to find the perfect backdrop for season 12, with other destinations including Mauritius, Bali and Vietnam also being explored. Each location is assessed based on its scenery, adventure potential and suitability for the competition.
While the professional context behind the trip is clear, that hasn’t stopped fans from reading into the duo’s dynamic, especially after seeing their content online.
