THE THIRD Annual Kirstenbosch photographic competition is running in partnership with Weekend Argus.
Now in its fourth month, the contest sees Weekend Argus feature some of the top images submitted. These are printed monthly, showcasing some of the amazing views captured in the world-famous botanical garden.
With a R35 000 camera up for grabs for the overall winner, entrants must ensure they take their photographs inside Kirstenbosch. Each photographer may enter no more than four images each month, and monthly winners will be selected for prizes.
The competition was launched two years ago to coincide with Kirstenbosch’s centenary and has proved extremely popular. The main sponsors are Orms and Canon.
The images of the month pictured here are also on display near the main entrance to Kirstenbosch.
If you enter more than one image, one must be of a flower.
Claude Felbert leads a photographic walk through the gardens each month, giving a workshop with hints and tips on photographing flowers. The workshops are free but participants have to pay the entry fee of R50 to the garden if they are not members of the Botanical Society.
Anyone wishing to participate should e-mail claudefelbert.co.za as 25 bookings will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
