Paarl-based KWV has solidified its reputation as a world-class distiller, achieving an impressive double country win at this year’s World Gin Awards. Both the Imagin Classic London Dry Gin and the Cruxland Kalahari Truffle Gin were named South Africa’s best in their respective categories.
Each gin was awarded a prestigious Gold medal, with Imagin Classic London Dry Gin clinching the title of South Africa's best classic-style gin for a second consecutive year. Cruxland Kalahari Truffle Gin's accolade marks its ninth international Gold medal in just six years.
The World Gin Awards serve as a testament to the high standards of craftsmanship and innovation within the global spirits sector. Organisers said, “From exceptional craftsmanship to bold innovation, this year’s entries have set a remarkable standard.”
Both gins advance to the global round, where the world’s best will be announced at a gala dinner in London on June 2.

Launched in 2007, the World Drinks Awards highlight the top international styles of drinks through stringent blind tasting by expert judges.
KWV’s Imagin Classic London Dry Gin, produced in small batches, boasts a crisp citrus finish and a clean juniper-led structure. Its versatility makes it an ideal choice for both sipping and crafting cocktails, garnering seven international Gold medals in the past four years.
The Cruxland Kalahari Truffle Gin is noted for its complex profile, featuring the rare and aromatic Kalahari truffle, known locally as !N’abbas. The gin’s intricate balance not only secured it the title of the World’s Best London Dry Gin in 2020 but also earned accolades at the Tokyo Whisky & Spirits Competition.
Brand manager Dalton Cyster expressed pride in their product’s ability to compete at the highest levels, stating, “We are extremely proud and have the utmost confidence that our product intrinsic can compete at the highest level.” The flagship Cruxland gin recently underwent a packaging refresh to further enhance its appeal, incorporating a modern design that aligns with its status.
