South African star Tyla is set to take on presenter duties at this year’s Billboard Women in Music, where she will honour Swedish pop star Zara Larsson with the Breakthrough Award.

The ceremony, taking place on April 29 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, will be hosted by actress and singer Keke Palmer, who is also part of the night’s performance line-up.

The annual event honours the music industry’s most influential and successful women, recognising both rising stars and iconic legends who are pushing boundaries.

Larsson’s journey to this moment has been years in the making. She first stepped into the spotlight at just 10 years old after winning “Talang”, Sweden’s version of “Got Talent”, back in 2008.

While that introduced her to the public, her global breakthrough came later with hits like “Lush Life” and “Never Forget You” with MNEK, both of which dominated radio and streaming platforms.

Since then, she has built a catalogue rooted in confident, high-energy pop. Her 2017 album “So Good” marked her international arrival, followed by “Poster Girl” in 2021, which included songs like “Ruin My Life” and “Talk About Love”, featuring rapper Young Thug.

Her most recent album, “Venus” (2024), leans into a more self-assured sound, with songs like “Can’t Tame Her” and “On My Love” alongside David Guetta.

“This year’s honourees have bold vision, global influence and artistic excellence across genres - and we’re especially thrilled to have Keke Palmer as our host,” added Dana Droppo, Billboard’s chief brand officer.

“Keke embodies the spirit of Women in Music: fearless, multifaceted and deeply respected across entertainment and culture. She brings a vivacious energy, sharp perspective, and lovable authenticity that will make this year’s show truly special.”

Tyla’s role as a presenter adds another moment to her growing connection with Larsson. The two are giving besties who work at the same office vibes.

Both signed to Epic Records, the pop stars recently teamed up on “She Did It Again”, Tyla’s pop and R&B blend single that plays on early 2000s influences while showcasing both of their vocal styles.

Their collaboration doesn’t end there, with Tyla also set to appear on Larsson’s upcoming project “Midnight Sun: Girl’s Trip” on a song titled “Hot & Sexy”, and they’ll be sitting next to each other at the awards.

Other honourees include Teyana Taylor (Visionary Award), Tate McRae (Hitmaker Award), Ella Langley (Powerhouse Award), Kehlani (Impact Award),  Laufey (Innovator Award) and Mariah the Scientist (Rising Star Award).
