Dubai is reinforcing its reputation as one of the safest and most forward-thinking destinations for female travellers, with the near-completion of a groundbreaking women-only beach experience at Al Mamzar.

The AED 500 million ($136 million USD) redevelopment project is set to introduce the city’s first dedicated women-only night swimming zone, offering a secure, private and luxurious coastal escape designed entirely around women’s needs.

A new era of women-only travel in Dubai

According to recent updates, the Al Mamzar Beach project is now 88% complete as of April, positioning it as a flagship addition to Dubai’s growing portfolio of female-focused travel experiences. It is expected to open later this year.

The development forms part of the emirate’s wider tourism strategy to expand beach capacity and enhance visitor offerings ahead of the busy summer travel season.

Across the UAE, women-only beaches, clubs and dedicated “ladies days” have become increasingly popular, but this project marks a significant leap in scale and ambition.

Privacy, safety and innovation at its core

What sets Al Mamzar apart is its strong emphasis on privacy and safety. The facility will be:

  • Operated entirely by female staff.
  • Equipped with advanced smart systems enforcing a strict no-photography policy.
  • Fully enclosed to ensure complete privacy after sunset.
  • Supported by specialised female lifeguards.

High-intensity floodlighting will allow visitors to swim comfortably at night, offering a welcome alternative to Dubai’s intense daytime heat, particularly during the summer months.

A first-of-its-kind 24-hour women-only beach

Once complete, Al Mamzar Beach is expected to become the world’s first 24-hour women-only beach, combining leisure, wellness and lifestyle into one seamless experience.

Key features will include:

  • Night swimming under enhanced lighting systems.
  • 1,000 metres of running, walking and cycling tracks.
  • Fitness zones and wellness spaces.
  • Food outlets and leisure facilities.
  • Children’s play areas for families.

From sunset swims to early morning runs, the beach is designed as a holistic wellness destination for women.

Part of Dubai’s long-term vision

The redevelopment aligns with Dubai’s broader urban and tourism strategy.

In a statement shared on X, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum highlighted the project as part of a larger plan to enhance the city’s coastline.

The Al Mamzar Beach upgrade will:

  • Increase beach capacity by up to 170%.
  • Cover an area of 4 million square feet.
  • Accommodate up to 7 million visitors annually.

It also contributes to Dubai’s ambition to increase overall public beach capacity by 400% under long-term development plans.

Redefining luxury travel for women

Dubai has long positioned itself as a leading destination for safety, luxury and innovation.

With the introduction of this women-only beach, the city is taking a bold step towards inclusive, tailored travel experiences.

For female travellers seeking privacy, comfort and high-end amenities, Al Mamzar Beach is poised to become a must-visit destination - blending security with sophistication in a way few global destinations currently offer.
